Swifty Manufacturing was established in
1997. It started out with the concept of the Swifty Line Remover. I had
often spent hours unwinding my line by hand and literally foot. I saw a need to
assist anglers in removing their spent fishing line quickly and easily. This
was a concept that I thought of while we were fishing at Clarion Islands off of
the Mexican Coast on the Polaris Supreme, a long range boat docked in San
Diego. Since then, the Swifty Line Remover has been a successful product that
is unique and useful for many fishermen. We still get many “Hey, Thanks” from
our happy customers.
I then expanded the Swifty product line by introducing the Release Tool
product line. I again brought together concepts that were unique and new to the
fishing industry. The initial inspiration came from an item that I found in my
wife’s grandfather’s tackle box. He was a tool maker and had designed a
freshwater release tool that was like no other I had seen. I used this concept
of using the fishing line to find the hook and using the leverage of the shank
to release the barb pressure to release the fish. This concept spawned a
complete line of release tools that are used today by anglers all across the
country.
The next area that I addressed was the need to clean braided fishing line. I
introduced the PowerWasher System as a companion product to the
Swifty Line Remover. This unique system aids the angler in removing their
braided filament fishing line, so as to clean the line, treat their spool and
service their reel. Swifty Spectra Cleaner, an organic enzyme was
developed to clean braided filament fishing line without harsh chemicals. The
PowerWasher System enables anglers to return the line under proper
pressure to the reel using the special adapter tools. These two products are
one of the hottest products featured in our line. This type of reel maintenance
is becoming a developing trend for today’s serious angler.
I next saw the need to develop products using cutting edge technology for the
rod building trade. The Diamondite product line consists of a rapid
curing rod finish that doesn’t crack or yellow with age, a hypalon adhesive
that is slippery and a reel seat adhesive that flows. I have partnered with a
technologically advanced adhesive company that shares my vision to bring new
technology to the fishing industry. These products will save thousands of man
hours and thousands of dollars in production costs. To compliment these new
products, Nu-Skin Rod Armor was developed to help anglers update their
worn out fishing grips. The sleeve material slips over existing hypalon or cork
to rejuvenate the grip. This product will also aid in the assembly of new rods.
This year, I targeted three areas;
The first product line covers connection systems. The Swifty Spectra
Adhesive is a product designed to assist anglers in connecting hollow
spectra to monofilament or fluorocarbon. The Swifty Spectra Adhesive
used in conjunction with either a crimp or serve and has aided anglers to catch
thousands of 200 pound Yellowfin Tuna. This new top shot connection is a proven
winner. Swifty Splicing Needles are offered to assist inserting your
extruded line into your hollow spectra or Dacron lines. Also working in
conjunction with Sato Custom Tackle, I offer state of the art, Hollow
Spectra Connection Kits.
The second product line is the Nu-Skin Reel Armor. It is a
semi-permanent transparent membrane which help prevents boat rash on your
aluminum bodied fishing reels. This is another great product that anglers will
welcome.
The third product line is Sticky ‘B’ Plastic Adhesive. Its unique
properties allow you to both attach and repair your plastic swim baits and
trailers. It is thick enough to stay where you place it and strong enough to
hold the bait in place, cast after cast.
I have been fishing all my life. It is my love. I also found that helping and
serving others to learn about fishing has been my life’s passion. I was the
president of a Southern California fishing club for over 10 years. I have been
very active in taking youth fishing for many years. I have also chartered
Swifty Manufacturing sponsored trips to share information and the latest
techniques with anglers. I also share my passion for fishing with my two
children, Tim Jr. and Ashley as well as with my wife Diana of 20 years.
Although my time on the water has slowed up a bit, I still look forward to
getting on the water.
